Problems with debt?

We offer casework to people with serious debt problems. Our aim is to resolve the issues and enable you to regain control of your finances as quickly as possible. In doing this we will help you prioritise your spending to make sure you can pay all of the most important bills and commitments, such as rent or mortgage, utility bills, council tax, court fines and that any offers to non priority creditors are affordable and sustainable.

We will help you maximise your income by checking for benefits or tax credits you can claim.

If your situation is such that you can not make realistic offers to your creditors we will discuss with you options such as Debt Relief Orders or bankruptcy where they may be the best way of solving the problems.

We also work closely several partners offering debt advice to the people they work with. If you think that an organisation you work with may be one of our partners ask them for a referral. For example we work closely with Stoke-on-Trent City Council's Housing Department to support tenants in rent arrears. If you are a a city council tenant and would like advice on debts ask you local housing office to refer you to the project.
